As a full-figured woman I wanted to go into a salon that had gowns [in my size] that were readily available. I found the right spot! Service was great. Thanks, Taylor!

The shop has a lot of styles to chose from and within different budgets for all sizes! I worked with Taylor to find my dress and she was knowledgeable, personable, friendly, and honest. She gave me really good feedback about dresses and definitely gave me a lot of one on one attention. I returned to the shop the next day to buy the dress I liked and she had thought more overnight about our session and was able to find additional dresses that might work for me- one of which I feel in love with and purchased. The people who answer the phone are always polite and helpful and give accurate information. The entire process was easy, friendly, and accommodating!
For my final fitting the seamstress was backed up and I waited over an hour to be seen. She actually saw another appointment which was scheduled after mine before she took me because it was a bride and several bridesmaids. I was really frustrated but she stayed late to finish everything so I could take my dress home that day. And it was the only hiccup in the entire process.

What can I say about this place... They are awesome! I'm not a skinny bride at all. This place was like a dream come true for me!!! They had so many styles to choose from and their prices are great. Ashley was so helpful and made me feel like a princess. The staff is super friendly and professional. Thank you for making my day special!

I would absolutely recommend Curvy Girls dress shop. They carry a wide variety of dresses, and I appreciated that their samples actually fit. The staff, especially their tailor Valerie, is helpful and didn't make me feel rushed during my appointments.

Where do I start?
Product: I was the maid of honor in my friend's wedding. My friend chose a beautiful dress off the rack, so she knew what she was getting. Then, three other people had to order bridesmaid dresses. One was delivered snug, but it was fine. Mind was delivered TWO sizes too big. The girl who took my measurements took them incorrectly and apparently used the incorrect chart. Then, for another purchase, the salesperson said the sample fit perfectly so they didn't even measure . . . nor did they mention that the samples are often stretched. That dress arrived about a size too small. Here we are with 2 out of 3 dresses ordered incorrectly. Although they did some of the alterations on the house for me, they charged double what other tailors charge to hem the dress, and lo and behold they hem was done incorrectly.
Customer Service: I have been in the store numerous times now and you are often left without anyone to help you, awkwardly standing in the front of the store. At one point, a salesperson was making small talk with me and was saying how awful it is to work there and how the owners are terrible. Another time, I was left waiting for 10 minutes simply to try on a dress. I finally asked if I could just do it myself without the tailor there. She said yes, dropped off the dress, and disappeared. I had to ask another customer walking around the store if she could help me zip it!
Value: Overall, they have some pretty dresses, but they generally do not have the quality to match the price.
In sum, I was incredibly disappointed and would never recommend this vendor.

I live 2 hours away from CurvyGirls Bridal, but because of the great reviews, I found on their OWN website and their wide variety of Designer Plus Size Gowns I really was excited to visit their shop. Once I arrive at CurvyGirls Bridal I was welcomed and treated like a Queen, by the whole staff. After trying on many designer wedding dresses that fit perfectly(size 16), without anything hanging out or having to try on dresses smaller then my size, I found my perfect dress. It was a little over my budget of $1200, but it fit perfectly and was a designer from all the Bridal Magazines I was reading. My first day experience was wonderful I paid for my dress and they said the dress will be in within 5 months before the Wedding, it was the end of November and my wedding was in June, which was fine for me, enough time before the wedding. By middle of April, I did hear form the dress shop, so I called to see if the dress was coming in soon, but they told me it would be in by the first week of May....huh!!....that's not enough time!!! I was upset but I had no choice but to wait. I received a phone call May 8th letting me know the dress was ready for pick up. I made an appointment for that sat for tailoring. When I got there they asked me if I had a appointment and when I told them "No, I was here for pick up and tailoring", their focus was totally off I waited in the waiting room for over 20 minutes. There was 4 associates there and only one other bride who was their for her first time and all of them completely ignored me, until my bridesmaid asked how much longer would it be. The tailor came out and put me in a dressing room in the back, and left me with my dress to put on by myself, my girlfriend left to get a drink and call her kids. After another 20 minutes of waiting the tailor came in and quickly asked me what changes beside the length I need different (kind of felt rushed). After I told her I wanted some of the layers of the dress taking out, and then I asked the price.....WOW!!....$400 for just that :(..... I was advised by friends to take it else where, but with such short notice and all those changes I decided just to pay for it. The dress was ready a week before the wedding, when I went in for my last fitting, this time no one was friendly at all. There was only two other brides there and they put me in the men's section (dressing room) to try on my dress.......ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY THEY NO LONGER VALUE YOU AS A CUSTOMER!!!.....It is ashamed since their shop is beautiful and is one of the most important part of a Bride's wedding.

Beautiful dress, great service, and great price. I couldn't be happier!

I was able to buy a dress "off the rack" from the back of the store with a tremendous discount- and the dress consultant who helped me was fabulous!!!! The dress was a sample, so it was small enough to fit and only had a few small wrinkles from being tried on before. My complaint with the store is with the alterations- the lady totally overcharged me for hemming and taking out some of the crinoline. I had to have another person "correct" her mistakes- and it cost about 1/5 of what the Curvy Girls lady charged me. Lesson learned- no matter how rushed you feel, go find a REPUTABLE alteration person!!!

My best experience with a vendor so far has been with Curvy Girls! Buying a dress can be so stressful, both in terms of planning and emotionally. I was worried about having to try on small dresses (I'm a sz 14/16), but no such problem here. As I tried on dresses, even other workers would come by and compliment how the dress looked. It really made me feel beautiful during an experience that I feared would make me feel over-sized. I found a great dress at a great price, and Valerie did the tailoring in-store. I let her run with the dress, and WOW did she do an amazing job! She's very smart and very good at what she does. She made me a beautiful bustle in a shape I had never seen before but perfectly matched the dress, and tailored the dress to fit me perfectly. She thought of every little detail! The person who had originally helped me find the dress saw me at my final fitting, recognized me (and trust me, they're busy at the store, I don't know how she remembered me), and was full of compliments. The employees are genuine, the store is beautiful, and everyone is really good at what they do. My experience at Curvy Girls has been the only part of the wedding that I haven't felt stressed about. I felt like I was in capable hands the entire time! I can't recommend them enough!

Curvy Girls Bridal is a wonderful bridal shop, no matter what size you are! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great. They block off a 1.5 hour appointment for you and one staff member is assigned to be with you the entire time. I loved the setup of the dressing rooms and the lighting. It was a lot more personal and private compared to David's Bridal. When I came out of the dressing room, my bridesmaids were sitting in the middle circle. I stepped up onto my personal platform and I felt like I was in a movie! It was great! I was able to add and customize my off-the-shoulder sleeves with the seamstress. I received so many compliments on my dress!

My name is Danielle I was referred by a friend. Her referral couldn't have come at a more perfect
time. I had been discouraged by my unsuccessful journey in finding the
perfect dress. I had numerous bad experiences with other boutiques
where I was forbidden to take pictures, they never had my size or was
offered limited selection because of my modest budget. My family and I
went to CGB and it was a breath of fresh air. Not only did we enjoy
the contemporary and modern designed facility, but the staff was top
notch! They treated us like family and our appointment was filled with
laughs and expert consultation. We talked about the benefits of curves
and what dresses met my body style needs! Needless to say, I left with
a dress that I never envisioned myself in, however it looked AMAZING.
I attributed it to the staff encouraging me to have an open mind and
also their expertise in knowing which gown will fit their brides' body
type. I got married Nov. 3, 2012 in Cancun, Mexico.

A long overdue vendor type -- bridal gowns for the "curvy girl" is a find in the Fair Oaks area of Fairfax. Take the plunge and spend the (refundable with purchase of gown that day) $100.00 to have the shop close down and your bridal party treated to a private (by appointment) showing and fitting session. Drinks and snacks were served and when the bride said "yes to the dress," the champagne was brought out. Having seen the hectic scenes when the salon is packed on a weekend, with fretful brides and small wedding party members running around, even if you never received a refund, the fee for the closed showing was worth its weight in gold and made for a truly memorable experience. Our bride and her maids all found their gowns here. Val, the seamstress worked feats of magic adjusting fits, adding sleeves and offering invaluable suggestions as to how to bring out the best in all the gowns. All the girls were thrilled with her final results. What makes Curvy Girls a four star, rather than five star, shop is the on again, off again attitude of the staff. The owners are very congenial until the deal is underway and then you never see them again. I advised them we had no set budget; I would have thought they would show more enthusiasm! There are sales staff who know what they are doing and those who do not. The career front desk staff (the permanent receptionists, not the sales staff filling in) were ill tempered and curt every time we dealt with them. An odd choice of personality for a bridal shop. As the mother of the bride, I was astounded that when we went to pick up the bridal gown, no one could be bothered to give us the time of day and we had an appointment! The gown was literally thrown in the bride's arms and she was sent into the fitting room by herself to try it on a final time. We struggled to get her into it and after determining that it looked good (and we had to waylay a salesperson to give her opinion; no one came by) we wrestled by ourselves to get the gown in the gown bag whereupon a staff member took it and dumped it on the front counter. It seemed like a rather inglorious end to what should have been a truly special time. No one said good luck, good bye, nothing. Just "this is what you owe." The positives here are the gowns are available in a rare range of sizes and the seamstress Val is a treasure. The negatives are it can get pricey with alterations and the staff does not seem to care for the individual bride once the sale is made. Up until the gown is sold, good. Following that, not so much. Following the gowns being chosen, customer service was less than stellar for all things wedding related EVERY time we went in (always with an appointment!). Even on a weekday, when we were the ONLY customers in the shop, we waited twenty minutes for someone to come to the front and open the jewel case so we could choose bridesmaids' earrings. Th entire "family, caring" atmosphere depicted on the website would be an amazing thing if brought to fruition. You can see glimmers of it but the "family" needs to get out front and work some magic of their own. Let's hope these issues are just growing pains.

This bridal salon is amazing!! It's decorated so cute, the staff is very friendly and accomodating! It is very stressful shopping for a wedding dress for anyone, but especially if your not the basic size 6-10 that most sample sizes are. I found Curvy Girls online and immediatly made my appt there, my best friend is getting married early next year and called to see when she could get an appt and told them she was coming in with me when I went to find my wedding dress and they said well then that will be your appt also! That type of customer service you would never receive from places such as David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo! This was the first place I had ever tried a dress on and the last! I tried 6 dresses on and by my 3rd dress I had found it! I started bawling my eyes out and just new that I had found my wedding dress! Who knew it would be so easy and so stress free to go wedding dress shopping! They have sizes from 2-32! So everyone please check them out you will not regret it!!

The dress sets the tone for the entire wedding. I was SO THRILLED with my dress and the service Kim provided. I NEVER would have picked my dress off the rack--she picked this one for me--and it was the one. I looked classic, elegant and sexy. I'm a size 18-20 and almost 6 ft tall and I wanted to look amazing on my wedding day--not like a big girl in a big girl wedding dress. I would not have been able to accomplish this without the experience I had at Curvy Girls. I actually ended up buying the cheapest dress I tried on! Not because of the price--but because it was perfect. Kim never pressured me into buying something more expensive. Val the seamstress was also amazing to work with--and very reasonably priced. Thank you for making me feel like a million bucks on my wedding day!
The only negative thing I can say about CG is that their horrible logo and marketing don’t do them justice!

Kim was the greatest bridal consultant! I came in with one idea of what I wanted and she went with it but also pulled out a dress that I would have never ever pictured myself in. I tried it on and fell in love. Paired it with a sparkly belt and I said yes to the dress!
They have an amazing selection and even if you don't truly need the larger sizes.. being a size 10 and being able to actually try on a dress that wasn't a size 2 or 4 sample made the experience a little less traumatic!
For alterations: The seamstress was always running late..like a hour at times...she did great work but was always running late and I did feel that her prices were a pit high for the amount of work she had to do.

So I searched all over for a dress that flattered my curves and made me feel like the princess I was on wedding day. After numerous failed attempts, I found a link to curvy girls. They have gowns in every size so no matter what type of silhouette you desire. Not only did I find one dress, I found several! I'm a size 16 so most shops didn't have sample sizes for me to try. They would hold them dress up to me like I was supposed to say yes to a dress I wasn't even able to try on. So not the case here! I tried on any and everything I desired. they had so many different gowns, that it essentially came down to the look I wanted for my wedding. I am so pleased with my selection. I will say that after the shop has secured our business, their professionalism went down the drain. I had 7 days after the dress came in to pay the remaining balance. No one mentioned this to us until after it came in. They said it was printed on the back of our receipt. Who looks at that? Then when we went to pick it up, we had to wait an hour for them to find it. Once I received it it was wrinkled from being packed up. It would have been nice if they could have let it fall so it wouldn't have been in such bad shape for my "first look." I really feel at this point I didn't get priotity customer service because they already had our business. My advice is to ask lots of questions up front and be aware.

While I was able to find some plus-size bridal gowns at other shops in Northern Virginia, CurvyGirls Bridal had the BEST selection, variety, and Kim was so friendly! It was a fun experience and I did come back a few times to try the gown on prior to ordering, which they were fine with. (NOTE: it needed to be ordered in March for an October wedding; and I had a few fittings as well, starting in August.) I also got my tiara from them, which matched the dress perfectly. There was one snafu alerting me when the dress had arrrived, but we figured it all out in the end, no problem. Also, the buttons on the back didn't hold the bustle as was needed, so I would recommend some reinforcing of the stitching done by their expert seamstress, prior to the big day. My dress got so many compliments, and I felt so confident in it. It was more amazing then I could have imagined. By far, if you are size 14++, please do yourself a favor and shop at CurvyGirls!

I'm so thankful for CurvyGirls for helping me find the perfect dress!!! It was the first one I tried on! The guy who works the front desk is a bit spacy, but the owner and her daughter are fantastic, as are all the women who work there. Valerie, the seamstress seems like she is WAY overbooked. She does great work, but I had a really hard time getting a hold of her to make an appointment for my first fitting. When I finally did meet with her she wasn't very clear on what she would be doing, and the timeline for getting it all done. When I showed up for my "final" fitting, it wasn't done. The dress clasp also popped off the day of the wedding :( (not cuz the dress didn't fit.. but because the clasp was not appropriately sew on).

I loved my dress. They were very helpful in the store, it is set up better then most in the area with lots of room. Many of the places I went to had tiny dressing rooms that you could hardly fit in with the dresses. My dress fit perfectly without alterations except for the length. I only gave 4 stars because every time I went into the shop they were running late.

Full story on Yelp b/c the knot won't let me fully explain, but I'll try b/c women deserve to know what that contract REALLY gets them into-DON'T SIGN IT WITHOUT A CONTINGENCY CLAUSE THAT YOU'LL GET YOUR MONEY BACK IMMEDIATELY IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THE DRESS REGARDLESS OF WHO'S FAULT IT IS.
I've been nothing but patient, understanding, and polite to the staff of CG since this started, so before anyone pulls out the word "bridezilla," just hold off.
Wedding date: 9/22/12.
January 2012, went to buy my single wedding dress(no bridesmaids' dresses). Found it, paid for half, found the veil, paid in full. Signed contract. Took nothing home. April was good-she's that 1 star for quality of service. She's awesome at her job. Kim was cool too, until I wrote this.
July 2012 - veil was not ordered as promised, dress came in. Manufacturer screwed up the dress(way too small sizing) and a second one was rush ordered, but they couldn't promise me it would get there in time for my wedding and wouldn't say I could get a refund if the dress wasn't there in time even though I asked repeatedly. I bought a back up dress(teal, hand made, made to my measurements wedding dress on Etsy.com for less than HALF of this dress and it was in my hands in 4 weeks).
2 weeks before the wedding - veil comes in. Dress comes in: sizing is wrong again, and bust is sewn wonky. They offer me a deal: refund or they will TRY to fix the bust w/ a new design, but nothing can be done about the sizing. If the dress doesn't look good after trying to fix the bust - I still have to pay for the dress, but they won't charge for the alterations. I pick refund. They made me keep the ivory veil for my TEAL wedding dress even though I bought it for the dress they can't provide for me now. That was 2 months ago. I call and they say they are trying to get their money back from manufacturer. This is obviously ridiculous since the manufacturer giving them their money back has no bearing on whether or not I'll be receiving m refund. So I am out $500 for the dress and $200 for the veil. I have been kind and understanding this whole time, and they are jerking around a decent person who works hard and paid for the entire wedding herself. I’m not rich, $500 is a lot of money. And we all know I won't get $200 for the veil so I'm out even more really. I am at a loss. Ladies, Etsy.com has tons of great made-to-your-measurements(including plus size, b/c that's why I went to CGB in the first place)dresses, made faster NOT in sweatshops in China and for way less of your hard earned money. And if something is wrong, you can hold that person accountable. CGB can't be held responsible for the manufacturer, and you can't call the factory in China to find out who screwed up, so honestly, bridal shops are just a bad middleman and CGB is just like the rest of them.
UPDATE- CGB refunded my money after I posted this.
