In Orange County, there is nothing that compares to Catlin. Incredible family-owned service, beautiful hotel on premises (not to be underestimated--went a long way in allowing us to plan a nice brunch the next day and allowing our guests to have fun without worrying about transportation), gorgeous Victorian manor house, delicious food and top notch service.
Winter weddings are not easy, especially in December when it can be hard to find a place without cheesy Christmas decor. You'll find none of that at Catlin! The Christmas decorations were elegant and really added something to our photos. Also, the lobby of the hotel proved to be a gorgeous backdrop for our posed photos, which can be tricky in winter, because a lot of outdoor pics are out of the question.
My husband and I grew up in Orange County but had since moved to Jersey City, about an hour and a half away, and Stephanie and Anne were so accommodating, allowing us to do a lot of business by phone and email, and checking in regularly with us to make sure everything was going well since we could not simply drop by at a moment's notice. When we wanted to make changes, add or drop things from the menu, or set up anything as far as decor, Stephanie and Anne got back to us very quickly, and always had both answers and suggestions on how to move forward. This is not a venue that is trying to rip you off--they are sensitive to budgets and really are willing to work with you to make sure you get the wedding you want without bankrupting yourself, which is much more than I can say for some other venues we looked at in the OCNY area.
And our day of service? Amazing. Our maitre'd was on point, helpful, and the day went off without a hitch. The food was delicious, and my tables and centerpieces were set up exactly as I instructed. I was in a bit of a daze at the end of the night, and forgot about grabbing a bunch of my stuff, and they packed up our DIY centerpieces and had them all boxed and ready to go for us the next day. They even grabbed my bouquet for me and refrigerated it when I forgot!
Also, big shout out to Jack's pub that threw a great after party for our friends and family!
So many thanks to the Stack family and the staff at the Inn for working with us to create a wedding we never thought we'd be able to afford. Orange County is lucky to have a venue like you!

My husband I were married the day after a blizzard. We had family coming in from all over the place to stay at the inn. They were well staffed and wonderful to our family and friends. Our wedding day went so smoothly you would have never known the day before was such a mess for the whole northeast. The food was great! Even though Catlin Gardens is known for their beautiful outdoor weddings do not overlook them for a beautiful winter wedding! All of the staff were prompt, professional and went above any beyond! A special thank you to Erin, Suzie and Stephanie!

My husband and I had the best day of our lives at Catlin Gardens. From the first phone call made after we were engaged until we waved goodbye from the parking lot after we had been married Catlin Gardens was a dream come true. Stephanie, James, Shanna and the entire staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We were lucky enough that another wedding wasn't planned for the afternoon before our wedding, so we had the entire grounds to our wedding party. We took over the place! Our rehearsal dinner in the Gratto was nothing short of amazing the night before. Then we stayed in the gorgeous hotel rooms after hanging out in Jacks Pub for awhile. We woke up the next day, headed for the church. We got back and watched everyone's smiles as the entered Catlin Gardens. The hotel rooms are romantic and spacious. Jack's Pub is so much fun for the after party. The gardens are a perfect location for an outdoor cocktail hour and even better for photos. The reception room is the perfect size for 180-200 people. We had everyone on the dance floor the entire night. The reception room overlooks the gardens which just adds to the beauty. Our maitre' d Jamie was remarkable, we even got to witness a hot air balloon cruising over our cocktail hour. Every detail was covered, even things we wouldn't of thought of. We had a sparkler exit to Jack's Pub and it was the perfect finale to the perfect wedding. Again we can not thank the staff at Catlin's enough, and we would recommend Catlin Gardens to anyone we have ever met, we have already! Best Wedding Ever! Best, Jennifer & Craig

Catlin Gardens is a beautiful venue for a wedding. The grounds are well-kept and make for amazing pictures. The staff was professional, friendly and made our big day a huge success. The service was top notch - Stephanie (wedding consultant), James (event coordinator)and Maitre D' Jamie exceeded our expectations. All our guests have commented on how delicious the food was. Our wedding at Catlin Gardens was perfect and we would recommend the venue to anyone getting married in the future!

I'm not going to bash cause that's not the person I am.
But for all the money went into this wedding I was not satisfied.
***Before you settle here I really suggest you look else where so many beautiful places where the price is right and you'll get the bang for your buck while planning your wedding.
I do have to say the gardens are marvelous. Made for some really nice photos.

My husband and I got married at Catlin Gardens on August 10, 2013. The day before our wedding, the Middletown area was hit by a torrential rainstorm that left roads flooded and closed. The night before the wedding I just knew that our outdoor ceremony was mostly likely going to be inside (which was absolutely fine, but our hearts were set on the gardens). To our surprise, the Catlin crew worked tirelessly throughout the (very) early morning to ensure that the Saturday weddings would occur in the beautiful gardens as planned. Still in disbelief, it looked as though there were no storms the day before at all. Everything was dry and clean-- no detail was left untouched. Our dream ceremony was really happening… all because the staff took every measure to ensure that that we were happy.
Our cocktail hour was inside, along with the reception. From start to finish, Stephanie, James, Jamie and countless support staff ensured that our vision became our reality. The food was outstanding, the venue was amazing, and the staff was on top of every single detail. We couldn’t have asked for more!
The venue has so many intricate details, and is so elegant and beautiful. The botanical gardens are enchanting, like something out of a fairytale. Inside and outside, Catlin Gardens is stunning! Thank you for making our wedding day unforgettable!

After my husband and I visited a venue that was less than anything we pictured for our special day, Catlin Gardens was next on our list. We, like many couples, were on a tight budget, and after walking into the hotel part we got discouraged because we thought there was no way we could afford to have our wedding here. It was just too beautiful to be in our price range. Long story short, Stephanie worked with us and helped us get everything that we wanted. She was very accommodating, and the whole process leading up to the big day was rather flawless. The day of was the best day of my life. I didn't have to worry about whether or not our centerpieces were placed the way we wanted, that the rose pedals were out, unity candle in place, name cards and picture frames how we envisioned, etc. All of the service staff was there to make sure we got everything that we wanted. James, the banquet manager was very easy to work with and made sure everything was set up perfectly. Jaime, our matre'd was FABULOUS!!!! Anything that we needed he made sure happened. He communicated with the DJ's, musicians, and photographers the whole night. If we needed something from the "emergency kit" he was running upstairs to get it for us. The girls took golf carts down to the ceremony site so that our dresses wouldn't be ruined and the gardens were absolutely stunning! The receptionist Danielle was very helpful in arranging all of our guests' stays. Everything was perfect and more than we ever could have expected.

I worked with Stephanie and James during the planning stages. Both of them were extremely helpful and accommodating. During the wedding, Sarah was my maitre'd and she went above and beyond to make our night perfect. She made sure we had food and water throughout the evening, made sure my husband and I along with our guests and vendors knew what was supposed to happen and when, and just made sure everything flowed seamlessly throughout the whole day. The team at Catlin Gardens made my wedding day the best possible wedding I could have ever asked for!

We could not have asked for anything more from Catlin Gardens, we truly had our dream wedding! Everything ran smoothly from the time we booked to the wedding weekend. Stephanie, James, Jamie, Erin, and the entire Catlin Garedens staff were a pleasure to work with. Everything I asked for and any ideas I had came together perfectly with their help.
One of our favorite things with Catlin was the abiltiy to have everything done right on site. We started our weekend with our rehearsal in the beautiful grotto room which was the perfect intimate and unique setting. Our bridal party stayed at the Inn and got ready there on the wedding day. The cocktail hour was truly breathtaking and guests commented on the beauty of the gardens constantly. The reception was gorgeous and we had the perfect evening dancing and celebrating in the Manor House. We headed to Jack's Pub for our after party and stayed at the Inn. The morning after we had a farewell breakfast in the Austin Room. Everything was just as we had hoped!
Thank you Catlin for making our wedding unforgettable and the perfect celebration!

Financial Risk! BEWARE! I absolutely loved Catlin Gardens, as well as the staff. My fiance and I booked our wedding in 2012 for May 2014 and couldn't have been happier. Until the following article was published 6/21/13 in our local newspaper the Times Herald-Record: http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20130621/BIZ/306210378
Catlin Gardens is financially unstable, is in significant debt, and the foreclosure process has been started. We had already paid more than half of our reception. When we inquired with concern about the security of our date and planned wedding, we were told that our date of 5/30/14 could no longer be guaranteed. When we pressed the owners for a refund, they began avoiding us and then refusing our request. We are currently taking legal action. This is our savings and we are now attempting to plan a wedding elsewhere. This has taken the excitement and joy out of wedding planning. Please be careful.

My Husband and I just got married here this past June. This was the first and only place we looked at! The minute we went inside we knew right away that it was perfect for us! From the staff to the food ... everything was perfect. The whole way through the wedding they were easy to contact and right on top of answering any question we had. They were willing to work with you and to make sure that our wedding was exactly the way we wanted it to be! It poured on our wedding so we unfortunately were not able to have our ceremony outside, but they moved it quickly inside and made it beautiful! What made this venue perfect was the fact that you were able to have your ceremony, reception and the guest had a place to stay after! Catlin did a perfect job and I will def be back in the future for other events!

We just got married at Catlin Gardens! It was such an amazing experience. Working with them up to the date seemed to be difficult at times, as there are many different contact people. The reception business seems to be managed much more effectively than the inn is. We did have some issues with the hotel, such as turning off the water and lack of organization.
However, our wedding was truly magical and the reception went off without any problems. Jamie was our maître d- and he was the best!! Our room was set up beautifully and was exactly how I wanted it to be. I could never imagine getting married anywhere else.....we loved Catlin Gardens!!!

Catlin Gardens is beautiful. There is not a spot in the venue that is not picture perfect. Jamie who was my maitre d' was the most amazing person I have ever dealt with. There was not a moment I would turn around and he wouldn't be there knowing what I was already going to ask for. He was amazing and for him alone I would recommend this venue. There was however issues before my wedding that I, as a bride felt were hiccups that should not have happened. Originally when I had been walked around and showed the venue I was told I could get ready in my room and then 2 months before my wedding I get an email saying that I can use their salon or another room which is an additional charge. I wrote to the woman who I worked everything out with to only get an email back from another woman telling me in nicer words I should have read my contract. The only other thing I find very difficult is that anyone you use must have their own insurance. Most vendors will charge you more or if you are using a spa type of hair and make up travel people most of them do not have it so that can be an issue and was for me. Due to the fact I could not get ready in my room and then my hair and make up people did not have insurance I went from staying at the Inn at Catlin Gardens the night before to staying at a different hotel 11 miles away to get ready in the morning with all of my bridesmaids. The place is gorgeous and the food is great but ask questions and ask for it in writting. Everything else was great. Again Jamie was amazing and made my night!!!

The staff at Catlin Gardens were all so helpful from the day we picked them for the venue. The wedding coordinator, James
was so wonderful. He answered my daughters texts almost immediately each and every time she had a question or concern. The day of the wedding, their Maitre d, Jamie was so attentive, and kept everything under control for the entire evening.
We had requested earlier than the normal 3pm check ins for out of town guests as the ceremony started at 4pm and after some discussions, even that was worked out satisfactorily.
Jacks Pub, located in the Inn, was a great place for the after party.
We had great feedback from many of our guests.

My husband and I chose Catlin Gardens because of how beautiful the gardens are. The sales team was very nice but once we were passed them things started to go downhill. We made it very clear to our Maitre D' Jamie that rain or shine we wanted to have the wedding outside and he let us know that wouldn't be a problem as long as it wasn't raining sideways. The day of the wedding, it was raining, but not too bad and to keep a long story short my mother and my husbands mother saw that they had set everything up to have our ceremony inside without speaking to us about it. Once I found out I made it clear we didn't care that the outside was wet - we had already taken pictures outside, the rain had stopped and it was very important to us to have the wedding outside. They set the ceremony up outside, so things were running late already. We found out after the wedding that my husband's grandmother missed the ceremony because she has a hard time walking and Jamie (Maitre D') said that he wouldn't take her on the golf cart that we had been told about. We know it was working though because during pictures my bridesmaids and I were offered a ride by him. My husband and I throw a lot of parties at our house and we're known for our jello shots. We decided to make them and have them passed out at the wedding and we found out (again after the wedding) that my sister/Maid of Honor and brothers and their whole table (full of bridal party) didn't get any. Everyone else had jello shots and the Waiter asked them if they wanted the non-alcoholic ones (we had a few pregnant women there and a few non-drinkers so we made both kinds) and they said no, we'd like the regular ones and then the waiter just never came back, so they sat waiting for their jello shots until it was clear that they weren't going to get any. Unfortunately we heard from a few of our guests that our Maitre D' was rude, so it wasn't just the bride and groom that noticed. We still had a great wedding but unfortunately Catlin Gardens was not what we were promised or hoped it would be.
We’re so very sorry to hear you were disappointed with your experience at Catlin Gardens. When it appears that inclement weather is headed our way, we set up for both an indoor and outdoor ceremony. We apologize if this appeared that we were not re...

When my know husband and I first saw Catlin Gardens we were taken back by the beautiful gardens and rooms. The convenience of having the ceremony, reception and hotel all in one spot was also a huge plus as we had a lot of international guests. Stephanie and her team worked extra hard to insure we had the wedding we were dreaming of. From helping us plan a military wedding to knowing us by name, the experience was pure joy and easy! The entire staff was so pleasant to deal with. Our matre de was wonderful, he kept everything on schedule, made sure we always had a drink in hand food on our plates, and that our every need was met! The food was amazing! Even my uncle who has been in the restaurant business his whole life commented on how delicious everything was. The bar flowed all night long, and no one had to wait for drinks (definitely a plus for my large irish family :) Catlin Garden went above and beyond to make our wedding amazing!!!! we could not have asked for more in a vendor. our friends and family are still talking about everything! truly an amazing wedding and venue. we HIGHLY recommend catlin to future brides, or to those hosting any party.

I was in high school when I first heard a radio commercial for Catlin Gardens. It sounded amazing and wished that one day I would be a bride getting married at this beautiful venue. Well, 12 years later, I got my wish and was married at the most stunning place I have ever seen. Not only are the grounds absolutely breathtaking, but the staff is so friendly and helpful! The entire planning process was so easy and I truly felt like I was surrounded by family the entire time. I recently heard this story from one of my guests and I must share it with you. During our reception dinner, my step daughter asked for applesauce. The kitchen was out of this item, so one of the staff members drove to the local store to buy applesauce for her. I could not believe how accommodating the entire Catlin Gardens staff is. They went out of their way to make sure everything went smooth on our day. Many people will say how not everything can go perfect on your wedding day. Well, mine was very close to perfection. The only hiccup was that it poured all morning and afternoon. I desperately wanted the ceremony in the gardens and James and Jaime made that happen. They even held umbrellas while walking our guest down to the ceremony. During cocktail hour and the reception, I noticed how place cards were set up and how the tables were arranged and that every detail I wanted was executed flawlessly. The food was AMAZING and Jaime made sure we never had an empty glass . The after party was at Jack’s Pub located in the Catlin Gardens Inn. We had so much fun with our friends and family. The bartender was fun and on point the whole night into early morning! To top off an amazing party and after party, we stayed in a gorgeous suite. I truly enjoyed everything about this venue and I have received (and am still receiving) emails, texts, and phone calls, about how beautiful our wedding was and how breathtaking Catlin Gardens is. If you want an unforgettable wedding, this is your place!

We were drawn to Catlyn Gardens by the beautiful gardens and landscaped waterfalls on their web site. As amazing as the grounds are every individual on the staff and service at Catlin Gardens are even better. Personal, professional and attentive care and guidance is provided for every question and request. The rehersal dinner at The Inn was exceptional in service and quality of food as well as affordable.
The wedding on grounds with cocktail hour and reception was like a Disney fairy tale dream. Food, accomadations, personnel and a detail exacting maitre de were all supurb. Then to have a luxurious inn to walk to after the event to unwind in the pub and then awaken to a fine continental breakfast was just wonderful. All our guests were so pleased with all facets of the wedding we recieved many calls and notes weeks latter thanking us inviting them to such a great affair. Another aspect that was above standards is the care and accessibility for handicap guests.

There aren't words to describe how thankful Tom and I are to Stephanie Stack and the staff at Catlin Gardens. We could never have imagined a more perfect wedding day. The gardens were incredible, the room was gorgeous, the food was tremendous and the attention to detail was spot on. Our bridal party, along with Tom and I, felt like royalty. From the beautiful private bridal suite, to the food and drinks that were brought to us without asking, it was truly magical. Our guests continue to call us and comment that it was one of the nicest weddings they have ever been to. Thank you again for making all of our wedding day dreams come true.

From the first time that we visited CG we knew it was one of the most beautiful places to get married. The gardens are beautiful & there are endless possibilities for photographs. Even though it rained, we had a beautiful ceremony in the manor house & our reception was lovely. Our wedding coordinator, James, was absolutely amazing - very attentive, detail oriented & great to work with. He made us feel very comfortable & calm, & he responds super fast to emails & phone calls. Our maitre’d, Jamie, was also terrific. He made sure that we knew what was going to happen before it did, made sure we ate & enjoyed our cocktail hour & our reception. Jamie & James took care of every last detail. The food was amazing – we got the paramount package & were very happy. Our guests complimented us on the food & we loved it. We also worked with Stephanie who was great. She took a lot of time with us without making us feel rushed. There were 2 places where issues arose, however, the hotel, & our actual wedding day. Although we booked about 36 of the 44 rooms at the hotel, just days before the wedding, we were informed by hotel staff that the rate we had gotten was unheard of & that the hotel was actually losing money on having our guests stay there, which was such an inappropriate thing to say us. Then, even though they’d had a year to tell me, less than 48 hours before the wedding, the hotel informed me that they needed liability insurance for the hair and makeup people or they wouldn’t let them in the day of the wedding. On the day of our wedding, I got a call from the hotel staff saying that she would not let the hair & makeup people & my bridesmaids into my room unless I emailed her written permission. When my girls and I arrived at CG that morning we had to go to the front desk to ask for luggage carts, & then we LOADED THEM OURSELVES while the front desk people watched us!!! Then we pushed the luggage carts up to our rooms ourselves! We had rain & couldn’t take photos outside, so we took pictures in the lobby of the hotel. There were close to 20 of us in the lobby taking photos. There was no air conditioning, & we were all dressed up & sweating. No one thought to open any doors, no one brought in any fans, & my bridesmaids had to go up to the hotel staff who were doing nothing to ask for ice water for people. Guests were coming into the hotel entrance & no one from the hotel thought to direct them where to go. After photos were done, no one showed my bridal party, family & us where to go. The best man had to go find someone to get us a room to wait in before the ceremony started. It was all just added stress than no one needed at that point. We would definitely recommend Catlin Gardens as a beautiful place to get married, great food, & a great time. The hotel & its staff however are another story.
