Lansdowne Resort is THE best place to have your wedding in Northern Virginia. The location is absolutely stunning, the staff is incredible and friendly and the catering is fabulous.
Renee Russell worked with us from the very beginning to the day of to make our day unforgettable. Through emails, phone calls and in person meetings, she helped us organize our day and took care of our vendors. She was always around to answer all my questions and to give suggestions. We didn't hire a planner, Renee took care of all the day of planning splendidly. She made everything go off without a hitch, even when the weather changed our plans. Thanks Renee!
Lansdowne practically takes care of your every need and will work with you from the very beginning with their vendor lists and recommendations. They were our venue for ceremony and reception, took care of our catering; even our dessert, and Renee was our organizer throughout and for the day of; keeping everything on track and taking care of all our rental needs.
The day of, their staff was fantastic, Renee and Millie took care of us and were so delightful. You can tell they do this all the time and know exactly what they're doing. I don't think anything could surprise them or throw them off! The white glove service is a nice touch, too. Lansdowne includes several perks to their wedding package like a food tasting before the wedding (that was a treat), a round of free golf and a spa gift certificate to mention a few.
We couldn't be happier with the whole team at Lansdowne and the year leading up to the wedding. Thank you all for making our day so special!

My wedding was absolutely amazing. I am so glad we went with Lansdowne Resort. Everything went perfectly. The venue was beautiful, the accommodations were wonderful, our guests had a blast, and of course we had the wedding of a lifetime and it was better than we ever dreamed! Renee Russell was our wedding coordinator. She is professional and reliable. I am very thankful for her services. She took so much burden and stress off of me leading up to the wedding, and she helped make sure our day went flawlessly. I am one happy bride. Thank you Renee and thank you Lansdowne!

Beginning with Christina Gibson, our Lansdowne Resort wedding coordinator, and ending with the wait-staff our wedding was almost perfect. Prior to signing the contract, Christina walked us thru the venues for the ceremony, the reception, and the dinner; she scheduled a food and wine tasting; and she went over the cost and payment schedule to make sure all of our needs were fully met. Christina made us both feel as if she was working for us (not just with us). During the planning phase (and even during the rehearsal), she made several recommendations that made the event run smoothly. Christina and the Lansdowne Team made our special day truly special.

The first time Dan and I visited Lansdowne Resort, we knew it would be perfect for our wedding venue right from the beginning! How could you not fall in love with it? The landscape views provide a beautiful setting for a wedding and the Hearth restaurant we saw had floor to ceiling windows that brings lots of sun inside the space. As a designer, this is definitely a plus!
Despite loving the place, we weren't sure we could afford it due to our set budget. We realized this was not going to be a problem because Lindsay Forseth, the venue catering manager, helped us work through our menu and stay within budget. She was not only absolutely helpful but also very nice and welcoming. We truly loved working with her because of her professionalism and easy going personality. Also, she worked well with our Wedding Day Coordinator, Jennifer Smith from Elegantly Chic's Events. Additionally, she went beyond her duties at times to ensure our day went smoothly and stress free for us! Everything turned out beyond our expectations.
Lansdowne Resort was absolutely a great choice we made and we definitely recommend it for future brides and grooms!

Lansdowne was the most amazing place to get married!! We were married in the winter and it was a night we will never forget. The staff was amazing and so helpful. My wedding planner Lindsay Forseth captured everything I could have wanted into this night. We have been back every year on our anniversary to stay at this wonderful resort! Thank you to everyone who helped make our night so magical!

We had our wedding at Lansdowne Resort this past June and we had an incredible experience. I worked with Renee and she was easy and accommodating to work with throughout the entire process. The day of, everything went so smoothly and I didn't have to worry about a thing. The venue is gorgeous and I loved having the reception in the beautiful stone Clubhouse. I could not have had a better experience and I would do it all over again (wish I could, in fact!!) :)

Renee was our wedding go to person. We've visited numerous locations and what locks the deal was how attentive and patient she was. She was very willing to work with us and was by our side each step of the way (we didn't have a planner). Everyone had a great time and I had nothing but great things to say about her. Great job and keep up the great work Renee!!!

My husband and I were planning to use another venue for our wedding, however they kept bringing up all these hidden fees and telling us we couldn't have our wedding there unless we paid for other things like furniture from them, longer catering hours, etc. Anyway, we decided to switch venues a little less than 2 months before our wedding to Lansdowne Resort. Luckily, they had an opening on our day since we had already sent out our invitations. From that point on, the wedding planning was stress free. They took care of EVERYTHING. We made our own favors and a family member helped with the small details but everything else was handled completely by Lansdowne and their wonderful staff. The food was incredible and everyone of our guests had a great time. Oh, and we got a free room for the night, which was so luxurious we had trouble leaving. :) All in all, I would most definitely recommend this venue to any brides looking for an amazing wedding.

Lansdowne turned out to be the perfect choice for us for a few reasons. One, we had a lot of guests from out of town, so having a location with a hotel was really helpful, and there were plenty of less expensive options nearby for those who couldn't or didn't want to pay the $189 a night cost (which I think was higher than normal because it was a holiday weekend in July... we were told it was closer to $150 when we were thinking of having the wedding in August). The people who did the room block weren't always the most responsive, but overall, that experience was fine.
Two, the ceremony setting - the terrace - was incredible. It was a hot day, but it was absolutely beautiful and breezy, and the terrace was almost completely shaded by our 6pm ceremony, so while it wasn't as comfortable as it would have been if it was 70 degrees, it was actually quite nice. The flowers and mountain views were so nice as a backdrop that we only had minimal decor up there (you could do it... that just wasn't a priority for us).
The reception was in the Clubhouse ballroom, which was beautiful and not too "ballroom-y", which we were trying to avoid. It was the perfect size for our 100 person, 12 table reception, and having the terrace in the back was a nice touch.
And finally, we were never interested in doing a ton of planning and organizing with 50 different vendors, so the package at Lansdowne is perfect in that nearly everything, including our awesome coordinator, Steve, comes with it from the food to the drinks to our room that night. The cost was very reasonable for everything the package included, especially because they were extremely flexible with our food choices and even how we spent the money.
We also got lots of compliments on the service during the dinner. I didn't personally notice how it was for others, but they went out of their way to make sure my husband and I were taken care of!

Loved using Lansdowne. Great service and great people. Beautiful! They did everything from planning, to catering, and even the wedding cake. Everything was delicious!

Before my husband and I even got engaged, he told me that he wanted to get married at Lansdowne. What a great choice! We got married on the outdoor terrace, which was beautiful in its own right. Directly following the ceremony, while our guests enjoyed cocktail hour and we took pictures, our event staff brought us hors d'oeuvres and drinks, which I thought was very nice. Our reception was in the grand ballroom - we had Salon A & B with 130 people, and I thought it was the perfect amount of space.
Lindsay Forseth was our coordinator up until the day of our event, and she was amazing to work with. She was very responsive, helped us with any questions that we had and was very nice and professional. Our day-of coordinator was Christina, and she did an awesome job. I was a little worried, since we had switched from Lindsay to Christina, but there was no reason for that! Christina made sure everything was set up perfectly, made sure we always had what we needed during the reception, and kept things on track. They both did a great job and I would absolutely recommend Lansdowne - not just because it's a beautiful venue, but because the service and attention there is fantastic.

My fiance and I were really looking for a location that did a lot-we weren't interested in managing tons of vendors and were looking for something that was also not crazy on the budget. Originally we were a bit uncertain at the sticker price per person, but in doing our research with other places in the area, all the added costs ended up being a ton more than Lansdowne! We were REALLY pleased with our experience. Lindsay was great to work with and while there were 4 weddings there the weekend of my wedding, they made me feel like I was the only bride in the world. Our ceremony was outside and it was beautiful! We had minimal decorations, but the view and greenery was all you really need. Reception was in the golf club house and it was really pretty. Many of our guests have commented that the food was the best wedding food they'd ever had and the portions were huge! We upgraded the bar and our guests loved that and all the food. I LOVED that during the cocktail hour, while we were taking pictures, we had our appetizers delivered to us as well as our own mini bar/bartender so that the bridal party didn't miss out too much! The staff (minus the bartender-see below) were SUPER friendly and helpful.
Only had a few minor issues: a few times in the year leading up to the wedding, my mom would provide updated credit card info and it didn't make it's way to the billing department so when it was time for the next payment, she'd get a call about it. I also heard from guests that our bartender wasn't very friendly, but my husband and I never really interacted with her, so I don't have much details from that. Lansdowne also provides 1st anniversary vouchers (which is awesome!) but it had the wrong name written down for my husband. All minor and wouldn't keep me from recommending others to Lansdowne.

First, Lindsay Forseth was our wedding coordinator at Lansdowne, and she was so sweet and wonderful to work with, answered our many questions, and was really great at making our wedding day more than amazing. Everyone LOVED the food, we served Lobster Tail and Filet Mignon, and people raved. We were scared that the lobster tail wouldn't turn out as nice as it did at our tasting, but they showed us. For our wedding that had approximately 230 people, Lansdowne was hands down everything I could ask for. We kept all of our guest for the many wedding festivities all at Lansdowne, and it was AWESOME. The Ceremony, the Cocktail Hour, Reception. And a lot of people made it to the Bar after (I apparently passed out!). And the next morning, we hosted an exceptional breakfast. It has been five months or so, and people still tell us how amazing the wedding was (some have even said "Best Wedding Ever" and how good the food was, which is every Brides dream to hear! Highly Recommended if you want your wedding to that special!

I was married at Lansdowne Resort on May 12, 2012. We had our ceremony outside at "On the Potomac" Terracem and our reception was in the Golf Clubhouse. Everyting about the day, from start to finish was PERFECT. The groundskeeping and scenery at Lansdowne is gorgeous -- I cannot wait to see how it all came out in our pictures! The hotel rooms are beautiful, and the Bridal Suite was perfect for myself and my bridal party to get ready. The food was delicious -- everyone raved about the meals, from cocktail hour to dessert -- and the staff was all very courteous and responsive. Thanks to Lansdowne, my wedding day was everything I dreamed it could and would be!!
Thank you so much for the very kind words. The entire team at Lansdowne Resort puts alot of pride into creating magical moments. We really enjoyed hosting you and your families for the special weekend.
We wish you all the best and look forward to ...

Lansdowne was hands-down the best option for what I was looking for. I wanted a beautiful outdoor ceremony space, my mother required a reception on-site with AC, and we also wanted a suitable inclement weather back-up ceremony location -- Lansdowne had all 3! While the cost of Lansdowne may deter you, it is competitive considering all the outside vendors you'd need to find if you had a wedding elsewhere. The Lansdowne package includes everything except florist, photographers, and music (DJ/band/etc). Your point of contact is one of the two catering managers who are with you the entirety of your wedding planning as well as the whole day of the event -- basically a wedding coordinator built into the package! I was very pleased.

We had a great experience at the Lansdowne. The Clubhouse ballroom was beautiful and the food was great. The family enjoyed breakfasts in the hotel, walking around the grounds, and the pool all weekend. My only complaint was that it was expensive, and different aspects (gratuity already added for food and the resort fee for the rooms) seemed like extra costs that at the time were unexpected. But, in the end we had a wonderful wedding weekend.
Lindsay Forseth was our day-of coordinator and did a great job. Everything went off beautifully. Also they were flexible enough to to add 5 extra guests last minute and start the cocktail hour 30 minutes early (our ceremony was shorter than we originally estimated).

We chose Lansdowne resort b/c it was close to us and it was simply a beautiful resort. They provide a wedding coordinator (ours was Lindsay) who was great. For our rehersal dinner, we were able to rent out a room in the golf clubhouse, and the food was PERFECT, service was TREMENDOUS, staff was great. We had the wedding in our church, so we only had the reception there, but everything turned out great.

Though this beautiful resort is only 25 minutes away from my parents' home in Great Falls, I had never even heard of it until I asked them for suggestions for reception venues. My husband and I live in NYC, and with 95% of his guests coming form overseas, it was important for us to choose a place where our families could make themselves at home for a few days - and they did just that!
Our families began arriving the Tuesday before our Saturday wedding, and immediately made themselves at home in the Stonewall Tavern, which, thanks to the Wiis, pool tables, and dart boards, was an excellent headquarters. You could always find someone in the Stonewall! Also crucial was the full breakfast buffet included in the daily room rate, which everyone enjoyed and used as another opportunity to come together.
Lansdowne's three golf courses were also a huge draw for both of our families, and my husband hosted a golf tournament on the Friday before the wedding for the men, while ladies enjoyed a tour at a local vineyard.
Lansdowne's facilites were overall wonderful - the common areas were beautiful and modern, Spa Minerale was a fantastic retreat, and family members of all ages spent a great deal of time in the aquatics centers. My only complaint would be that the guest rooms, while clean, comfortable and inviting at first glance, were missing modern upgrades that even common hotel chains feature. Lansdowne, you need flat screens!
As for service, I do not have one complaint to put forth regarding Lansdowne's staff. By the end of the week the staff at Stonewall knew every detail about our family! Our catering manager, Lyndsey Forseth, could surely plan a state dinner without breaking a sweat. She had an answer for every concern, big or small, and was so great in helping to finalize our menu, including suggesting the most amazing dessert I ever ate in my life (I wanted to hide under the table with it!) and promising me the bakers could deliver my dream cake - which they did, 5 layers of forest tree delight! When Lyndsey hosted our tasting, it was so remarkable I would have sworn there was no way it could be replicated for 160 guests, but every single guest commented how they'd never had better food at a wedding.
We felt so at home at Lansdowne for the duration of our stay. Definitely indulge in a hot stone massage at Spa Minerale, and don't forget to pick up a smores kit from the front desk and spend some time enjoying the bonfire overlooking the golf course!

Unfortunately we did not have a great planning experience with Lansdowne. If my husband had not attended a work conference at the resort, we would have demanded our money back and found a different venue. Because of his previous experience, we were positive the day of the event would be amazing and stuck to it even though it was miserable at times. However, if I were to do it again, I would have probably asked for a different catering manager earlier on or just walked away.
We were sold on Lansdowne when we realized we would have the same manager throughout our whole event and even the day of the wedding. Unfortunately she quit two weeks before our wedding and we were handed off to a different manager, Leslie. Ironically if we had had Leslie for the whole planning process, we are confident it would have been a better experience.
Leslie was great for the short time we had her as our manager. I would highly recommend asking for her if you plan on going to see the resort. She helped make our rehearsal dinner and wedding day amazing! Our pictures came out fantastic. The grounds are beautiful!
We got married on the Pavilion Terrace (not the Bridal Terrace) because it was already occupied, but I actually liked our location better. Our cocktail hour was on the ballroom terrace and our reception was in the ballroom because we were too big for the clubhouse. The staff was great! Everyone RAVED about the food!
I would recommend Lansdowne Resort as a wedding venue. Just make sure you enjoy working with your manager and enjoy the experience. I unfortunately did not enjoy my planning process, but the day of our wedding went off without a hitch!
